The 1st Redbourn Scout Group was set up in 1927, and has helped 10,000 young people learn skills for life, gain confidence and develop the desire to make their world a better place. Our Scout Hut has reached the end of its useful life and now needs to be replaced.
We want to use this opportunity to build a new facility that Redbourn can be proud of, building a brand new fit-for-purpose, modern and sustainable building that can be enjoyed by the youth of our vibrant village, as well as the wider community for years to come.
We are seeking your support turning this ambitious dream into reality, where we hope to open our new building for our centenary year in 2027; the journey starts here!
The existing scout hut was built in the early 1960s, and has reached the end of its life, with the cost of maintenance of the current hut having an impact on the future viability of scouting in the village.
The current site is in the perfect location to continue its use as the home of Redbourn Scouts, and it has all the required external space and landscaping to support an active scouting group, but the existing building must be replaced. It is therefore essential that we build a new hut to secure the next 100 years of scouting in Redbourn village.
We want our new hut to enable us to continue the legacy of 1st Redbourn Scouts. We have drawn up plans for a hut with a spacious main hall, a quiet meeting room, ample stores for all our kit and equipment, adequate and accessible toilet and shower facilities, and a robust kitchen - all features that will allow us to continue to provide exciting, inclusive and varied activities for our Young People.
See below for our current drawn up plans for a new, future-proof hut:
